Chapter Two of Arthur should be up by the end of the day, as I now have my beloved macbook back from my partners :D

This means I can head to the student union office where I started writing the chapter up and get it onto a memory stick to transfer to this macbook, so then I can carry it on in my hour break before Media Writing, and then finish it tonight when I get home.

I would go to the D&D thing at college tonight, but I need to talk to my carer about it first, as it would mean that I wouldn't leave college until 6.30pm, meaning I wouldn't be home until a lot later. She doesn't like me being home too late, so I doubt she'll let me go, even though I'm 19 years old and old enough to sort myself out.

For the meantime though, my partner will drop me off home to Fareham so I can get the bus back, meaning that I shouldn't be too late home, which will make my carer super happy!

I also finished the first Hitchhikers book, so I need to buy the rest so that I can finally be a true Hitchhiker!

The only bad news is that over the weekend I ended up with a really bad cold that I can't seem to shake off!

Hi!

I thought I'd actually type up a catch up post before I head off to class, as I haven't really written about what I've been up to recently.

So, news, news, news...

Anyways, I've started work at the Mary Rose Museum, it's a volunteer job, and I work from 9-5 for three days of the week when I'm not at college. It's absolutely amazing to be able to work in a place that is filled to the brim with history, as well as the fact that I'm helping to make history as I will be one of the first people to be working in the brand new museum. It's all previews at work at the moment, so I'm working around the press, various people from various walks of life, be it from the other ships in the dockyard (I've been cordially invited by HMS Victory and HMS Warrior volunteers and staff to check out their places to see what I think) or from the BBC. I had to be interviewed for the website, which was interesting, as I spent the whole time trying not to let the weight of a piece of disintegrating rope to make me buckle at the knees, therefore answering though the grit of my teeth.

And then there was the matter of the dockyard pass. As I work in a museum that lives on naval property, I have to sort myself out with a pass to get me through the dockyard in the morning before it is open to the public. I didn't bother with this for a whole month, as the original museum was literally a stone throw away from the first low security gate. But now the museum is right at the high security end, I need a pass. I've been trying to suck up to the guards, but alas, a pass is needed. So today I actually left home earlier than usual and went all the way to the gate where it would need to be sorted, and I got it all processed. RESULT! This weekend I should get my temporal pass, and hopefully my new proper, official pass will turn up in a couple of weeks! And I ought to be able to get a season pass for the other ships as well, which ought to be good. A trip out for me and the fiance at some point to the dockyard will be pretty ace!

I've also been trying to catch up with college work, which hasn't been all that fun. No matter, I shall push on through, especially as I've left my Mac at home (I'll have to retreat to the LRC for the day to escape my angry tutor's wrath, am writing this in the Student Union Office at the moment). I've got a lot of film studies to get done, as well as production theory, pre and post production theory, not to mention my FMP dossier...

It's going to be a rather long day methinks...

Hi!

So, Camp NaNo failed. I only bashed out 1287 words for the whole month, because I was rather busy with college and uni stuff.

But you might of noticed the brand new deviation slipping into your inbox (if you still watch me, that is), of 'Arthur'. I'm using the character of Arthur, but I've turned him into a male version of myself, well, that of my autistic self. In the first chapter you see what living with someone might be like, as well as how that person may work. I decided that I would be writing for a young audience, that of young adults/older teens, as they are the ones who need to learn most about this condition in life, especially as all the horror stories about disability in children is being blamed on ASD, I saw a Daily Mail post the other day telling that it was the fact that more children are being diagnosed with ASD, which is what we must blame for the rise in child disability statistics in the UK. Groan.

But, I'm writing this on the seat of my pants, so please bear with me as I attempt to get as much as I can written, considering that in the next fortnight, I need to be in production of my FMP, as well as finishing off the ever growing pile of coursework (thank goodness college have set me up study periods in the LRC now!)

Hi there!

So, it's that time of year when writers pack their metaphorical knapsacks and head off to the glorious destination that is Camp NaNoWriMo.

But what's the difference between Camp NaNo and the traditional NaNo challenge in November?

The traditional NaNo is set in November of every year, where writers spend the whole of the thirty days frantically typing out 50k before the deadline at the end of the month. I had a most wonderful experience with NaNo last year, even though I only made it to 17k that time with that awful Regency romance 'Bound By The Heart' which I have abandoned for good, after seeing common sense that I am not a soppy writer. Soppy writing just cramps my style.

Camp NaNo, however, is much more relaxed. Although you don't get forums or write-ins, like you do in the traditional version, you can join 'bunks' in order to get that much needed support. I wonder who I will be bunking with this time? The other thing about Camp NaNo that is pretty sweet is that although 50k is the ideal word count goal, you can adapt the word count goal to suit your life style, which isn't a feature in traditional NaNo. I won't be altering this though, as I am pretty damn determined to get the 50k word count with my novel, 'The Legend of Archania'.

I got the idea based on the fact that I read the Tarot as part of my witchcraft practice, and took the term 'archana' and put a slight spin on it in order for it to sound more like a realm in a fantasy novel rather than a deck of cards that are used for divination, because I was too lazy to really think of a good name. I like that name though, so meh.

We'll be having another novel that is similar to the way that I wrote The Chronicals when I was seventeen, except that it'll be a questing fantasy rather than a rebellion one, like Crazar. This means I'm going to have to really look out for a Mr Editor to kick me up the bum when I have an off day during Camp, especially as I have a lot of FMP stuff to do as well. I wouldn't be surprised if elements of NaNo seep into my screenplay, to be perfectly honest with you all...

It does mean research, and a lot of preparation in general. Like actually sitting down and having a game plan so I can juggle Camp with everything else that I do in college and in life, like Gang Show, my witchcraft vlogging and blogging, dA Pagans (might need to do an Ostara post for them soon, actually!), my responsibilities as Women's Officer and my FMP. It'll mean me sitting down in a  moment and setting up a timetable for April that I ought to be able to stick to!

FMP - Day One

2 min read
So, Day One of the dreaded final major project. I have to write a ten page script, source six pieces of research to aid the script's realism and how it would be suitable for today's market, and write a proposal.

On top of that, I have to prepare to pitch the script, IN TWO WEEKS TIME...

NIARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, no pressure there then?

Depends on what you mean.

No sweat if you're a dab hand at screenwriting, and have done many solo pitches in your lifetime.

Major issue, however, if you've never written a serious screenplay before, and you've always been given backseat roles in pitches before, because of the sheer fact that you are a woman in a production team that is primarily male....

Yikes!

So, no pressure, right?

Wrong.

I know what I want to do now. I've said this many times, but now I have made my decision about the piece I want to make.

I'm going to be following a young writer, who is dreaming of publication, and following them during the writing process, and how it in turn affects their relationships and their life in general.

SUCH FUN!
